This week I was fortunate enough to travel down to beautiful Devon to film the wedding of Lucy and Richard at Buckland Tout-Saints Hotel. It was a stunning venue in unspoiled countryside and the day went perfectly. I had actually filmed the wedding of Lucy and Richard’s friends, Vicky and Sam, so it was nice to catch up with them again after 3 very quick years since they got married. Lucy and Richard really enjoyed the day and after a wonderful ceremony the photo session in the lovely grounds was taken by Christian Michael Photography from St. Ives, Cornwall. Chris and Mike were a great laugh and really easy to get on with so thanks a lot guys and hope to work with you again sometime. Thanks also to Michael Underwood who was the toastmaster for the day. Mike was also a pleasure to work with and many thanks for all your help on the day. After some terrific speeches Lucy and Richard enjoyed a brilliant wedding band during their evening and are now enjoying their honeymoon. It was a great few days away and thanks very much guys.

Lucy and Richard’s Wedding Video in Devon at Buckland Tout-Saints Hotel
Sunday, August 8th, 2010Tory & Iain’s Wedding Video in Warwickshire at the Menzies Welcombe Hotel
Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010Last weekend was a lovely wedding in great surroundings and Tory and Iain had a fantastic day. Filming began in Tory’s local salon, Michelle Griffin in Barnt Green where her hair and make-up was done ready for her big day. We then headed off to her house before I made my way to St Laurence Church in Alvechurch ready for everyone’s arrival. It was a wonderful ceremony and the rain just about held off so that everyone could enjoy the photo session outside which was carried out by Redditch based Brookfield Photography. I hadn’t been to the Menzies Welcombe Hotel in Stratford Upon Avon for a few years but it’s still as spectacular as ever, with the beautiful gardens backing directly onto its golf course and the wedding breakfast (which I was lucky enough to have as well) was brilliant. Some emotional and excellent speeches followed before everyone was treated to a band throughout the evening. Tory and Iain are now on their honeymoon but I look forward to catching up with you when you return. Many thanks for your hospitality following the wedding rehearsal and of course on the big day itself – I was made to feel like one of your guests.
Claire and Steve at The Regis
Monday, May 31st, 2010Claire and Steve are now on their honeymoon and I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks when you return. Their wedding on Saturday was a local one for me as the church was just a few miles from me at St. Andrews’, Netherton. Thankfully the rain stopped just before Claire arrived in a beautiful Rolls-Royce Phantom and the improving weather also meant that Claire and Steve could perform a fantastic Dove Release immediately after the ceremony. The photos were taken at nearby Haden Hill Park somewhere I have driven past hundreds of time but have never visited; I’ve missed out because it’s simply stunning. I must say it was slightly strange when I arrived at the wedding reception venue because The Regis in Cradley was where my sister celebrated her wedding and I’d not been there since (11 years on). I was the best man that day! I have to say that the food was superb and many thanks to the staff for providing me with an excellent 3 course meal. I had a good chat during the meal with Keith, the photographer, from Midland Photographic in Dudley and it turns out that his daughter’s wedding reception also took place at the Regis – small world! I’ve filmed magicians in the past but have never seen the kind of show that John Milner put on at a wedding. He began with close up magic for a couple of hours then after the first dance and buffet he performed a 20 minute routine in front of eveyone where he linked and un-linked rings, matched up six pairs of pictures with six guests and even made one surprised guest levitate. Afterwards she said it was a completely surreal experience which she couldn’t quite comprehend – she’ll have to wait for the DVD to see what happened but in the meantime….
Faye and Jamie’s Wedding Video in Shropshire at Combermere Abbey
Monday, May 10th, 2010Many congratulations to Faye and Jamie, whose wedding I filmed on Saturday at the stunning Combermere Abbey near Whitchurch, Shropshire. It was a fantastic venue and one which I haven’t filmed at before. Jamie and Faye both got ready in beautiful cottages on the estate and the ceremony took place in a wonderful glasshouse. It was great to catch up with Vikki and Paul (friends of Faye and Jamie) whose wedding video I made in 2007 at Moor Hall Hotel, and thank you to David Perkins – the photographer. He was really easy to get on with and we had a good chat about work during the meal. We’ve both been in the wedding industry for nearly 10 years now so we had plenty to talk about. It was also nice to see Sarah and James (also friends of the bride and groom). I will be at Stourport Manor in September to film your wedding so I look forward to seeing you again in a few months. The evening got into full flow really early on and to round off the day a fantastic firework display lit up the night sky. I’ll speak to Jamie and Faye in 3 weeks – in the meantime, enjoy your honeymoon.
